Gear Rental Process
Before You Check Out:
- All students must complete a FVS User Agreement with the Film Dept. Head to check-out gear.
- User Agreements are available to students currently enrolled in select FVS Production courses (see below).
- Check the Available Equipment page. Please note that kits cannot be broken up into individual parts, and gear is limited by class and specialty training. Renting gear is first come, first serve.
- Visit the Gear Room Hours page. As the gear room is student-run, it does not operate under normal business hours. Please plan at least 15 minutes or more for the check-out/check-in process when you reserve a time.
- Gear rentals span two business days. If you check out gear, it must be returned within the next two weekdays - (ex. Tuesday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday). Rentals on Fridays must be returned the following Monday.
Requesting Gear
- Email [email protected] 2-5 weekdays before your desired check-out time. Feel free to include any questions that you may have as well. Include:
- Name
- FVS Class
- Check-Out Date & Time
- Check-In Date & Time
- Requested Gear
- All emails not sent 48 business hours before pick-up time will be immediately denied.
All emails sent more than 5 weekdays before pick-up time will be denied. - You should receive a response within 24-36 hours either approving or denying your request. Again, gear is first come, first serve.

Check-Out
- If your gear request is approved, you may pick up your gear at the time and date agreed upon in STEW G89. Gear Room staff will walk you through your equipment, check everything, and fill out your kit rental form.
Check-In
- Upon returning your equipment, you and the gear room staff will go over the equipment once more to ensure everything was returned in working order. Please be open with any problems or accidents that may have occurred in order to make them easier to fix.
- If gear is returned missing or broken, an incident report will be immediately completed and submitted to replace the gear and confirm it as returned. You cannot check out again until the report has been resolved.
